Episode 47: Freelance/Virtual Assistance Service Series: Pinterest Strategist

We’re starting a brand new series over on the Ditch the Classroom podcast – teaching you about popular freelance/virtual assistance services and what those services entail.

In the first episode in the series, I’m teaching you all about Pinterest Strategists. Did you know you can get paid to play on Pinterest? It’s not only a place to go to find your next DIY idea or recipe – it’s a visual search engine that is now almost as popular as google.

Many businesses should be on Pinterest but aren’t on it yet – it’s still a very under-utilized platform in terms of businesses who could expand their reach, making this a great service to offer.

I’m breaking down what a Pinterest Strategist does so you can see if this is something that would interest you as you take the first step to quit teaching and pursue your new work-from-home business.

Full Episode Transcription:

(00:07):
Hello, hello! And welcome back to the Ditch the Classroom podcast. We are starting a brand new series for the next several weeks. And this series is going to teach you all about the different freelance and virtual assistant services that you can offer. So in the series, we’re gonna give you an overview of popular services and what those services entail. This episode, we’re gonna start out with Pinterest strategists. I think this is one of the most fun services that you can offer. Did you know that you can get paid to play on Pinterest? It’s not only a place to go to find your next DIY idea or recipe. It’s a visual search engine that is now almost as popular as Google. Many businesses should be on Pinterest, but they are not on it yet. And it’s still a very underutilized platform in terms of businesses who could expand their reach, making this a great service to offer. So it’s not too overcrowded. There are still many businesses out there who need someone providing the service for them.

(03:04):
So as a Pinterest strategist, your job is to create drool-worthy pin graphics and descriptions that will get people to click on the pin to learn more. A good Pinterest strategist uses keywords throughout their Pinterest titles, images, and descriptions so that when someone searches one of those keywords, that pin will show up. So if you go on Pinterest and you type in “dairy-free recipes”, the pins that show up, come up because they have similar terms in their description, their title, their image, everything. Pins also have a way longer lifespan than say an Instagram or a Facebook post. Instagram and Facebook, those posts last, maybe 24 hours of being seen. If that. Probably less. Pins can be found months and months later. So really you can pin it once and your business is gonna grow. So this is extremely amazing for businesses because it allows them to get that traffic for work that they have done months and months prior.

(04:28):
Some of the tools that a Pinterest Strategist uses are Canva and Tailwind. So Canva is a free design software. It has templates and proper sizes already there for you. And you just have to go in and change the colors and text. So you don’t need a degree in graphic design to be able to create Pinterest graphics that are drool-worthy. You can use Canva, and they’ve already got so much in there to help you. The other program that Pinterest strategists use is called Tailwind. So, this is the program that you would use to schedule the pins because you’re probably not gonna be available to sit on Pinterest all day long pinning things for your clients, but you can take one to two hours a week to schedule out 20 to 40 pins that will publish automatically throughout the week. Now, if you’re somewhat creative, love research, and love coming up with new ideas, then becoming a Pinterest Strategist may be a good fit for you. Let me know if you have any questions about Pinterest Strategist. I am more than happy to answer them is always, you can feel free to DM me on Facebook. And make sure to stay tuned in for the next episode in this series – Let me start that over. And make sure to stay tuned in for the next episode in this series where you’ll learn all about the world of email marketing and what email marketers can do for their clients. Okay? I love you guys so much and I will see you next week.
