(00:07):
Welcome. Welcome back to another episode of quick tip Thursday here on the Ditch the Classroom podcast. Today’s episode, I’m gonna be answering the question of how do I find balance between my children and working for my clients as a virtual assistant? It can be a challenge to juggle everything at once and have that constant pull between, you know, you wanna be with your kids, what you need to get this work done. So I’m gonna share with you three tips to help you balance spending time with your kids and maintaining your virtual assistant business tip.

(01:51):
Number one is to time block. This is where you’re gonna figure out a game plan of when you’re gonna get it all done. When are you gonna get all of your client work done? When are you gonna spend quality time with your kids? When are you gonna spend time with your spouse? You need to be planning out your week and not planning out every single minute of every single day, but having the important stuff plugged in so you know exactly when it’s going to happen and you can stop stressing. I’m not gonna go super, super in depth on how to do this effectively in this episode, because I already have an episode that breaks us down really well for y’all. So go check out episode 65 here on the Ditch the Classroom podcast, it’s called “Five Time Blocking Tips for the Busy Teacher Turned Work at Home Mom“So you can go find that on the Ditch the Classroom podcast, wherever you’re listening, or you can also go to ditchtheclassroom.com/vault, V-A-U-L-T. And in there I have all of our episodes organized by category for you. It’s got the links, it’s got the resources I mentioned in the episode. So you can go there and find this exact episode or any other episodes related to that topic. Again, that’s episode 65, and it’s gonna teach you how to time block effectively so that you can figure out how to juggle everything on your plate.

(03:20):
Tip number two that I have for you is to do some activity rotations for your kids. So maybe you have like 30 minutes that you just need to sit down and bust out some work for your clients. Could you set up like a center rotation for your kids to go through kind of like when you were teaching, set them up a couple different centers, have a timer on your phone for 10 minutes. They play at one center for 10 minutes and then they rotate to the next one. That’s a really good way to keep them busy while you are working.

(03:52):
Tip number three, I kind of already mentioned it in tip number two is to use a timer, but I also think that you can use a timer to just let your kids know that once this timer goes off, I will be done working and I’ll be able to pour into you. I will come and play with you for 15 minutes, but mommy needs to sit down and work for 20 minutes right now. So as soon as you hear my phone timer go off, I will be able to go and pour into you and you can even make it fun for them. Let them hit the timer button on your phone. And when the song starts going off, maybe they can like do a little dance or whatever, but just make it fun for them. And also hold yourself accountable. If that timer goes off, don’t be like, no, I need two more minutes. No, they need to know exactly what they can expect from you. Pause that work that you’re doing. Go pour into your kids and you can always finish what you were doing later.

(04:47):
So this was a short and sweet episode. Let me recap for you. My three tips to help you balance spending time with your kids and maintaining your virtual assistant clients. Tip number one is the time block tip. Number two is to do activity rotations for your kids. And tip number three is using a timer. Alright? I hope this episode was helpful for y’all.
