(00:07):
Hey y’all. Welcome back to the Ditch the Classroom podcast. Real quick, before we jump into today’s episode, I want to read a sweet review from a listener here on this show. They said, “Just what I was looking for. I’m looking to become a virtual assistant because it fits my life perfectly and would be the best choice for me. This podcast is definitely helping me get started.” Y’all, if you didn’t already know, podcast reviews are the number one way that I can grow this show and reach even more mamas and teachers just like you. These reviews are what tells Apple Podcasts, Spotify, wherever you’re listening, that this show is worth pushing out to more people. It’s literally pretty much the only way. So if this show has helped you in some way, if you’ve listened to two episodes, three episodes or more, I would be so incredibly grateful if you took a moment to come and leave a review on the show.
(02:11):
It can be short and sweet just like this one was, but it would bless me so big. So go to Apple Podcasts, search Ditch the Classroom, and click on it, and then scroll all the way down to the write a review section. You’ll just click the five stars, write a sentence or two about how this show has impacted you, and then before you hit submit, take a screenshot. If you submit it first, then sometimes Apple takes a few days to actually show your review. So take a screenshot first, hit submit, then email that screenshot to podcast@ditchtheclassroom.com, and I will send you a free gift as a thank you for leaving a review on the show. I’m gonna give you a code to get the Ditch the Classroom Toolkit for free. This will give you the basics to getting started as a virtual assistant, and it is just my thank you for taking the time to help me grow this show and reach even more mamas and teachers just like young.
(03:10):
So thank you in advance. And then today’s episode, I’ll be sharing with you my top five favorite books for teachers who want to quit teaching. Books are one of the first things I dove into when I was first starting this business, and they really helped me to kind of transform my mindset from teacher to business owner. So I’m gonna share my five favorites with y’all. Book number one is actually my book, not to toot my own horn, but Teacher Turned … is going to just help you understand what God is asking you to do, and it’s going to help you uncover your God-given purpose outside of teaching. It’s short and sweet and it will literally just walk you through my purpose framework. It’s seven steps and it gives you tangible, tactical steps that you can take to help figure out what you should be doing outside of teaching.
(04:10):
So you can find that at teacherturnedvirtualassistant.com/book or just go to Amazon and type in Teacher Turned … or type in my name Arianna Vernier and it will come up for you. Book number two is Believe Bigger by Marshawn Evans Daniels. You guys, I’ve never written in a book so much in my life. My copy literally has like 10 million Post-It notes. This book is so good. It’s all about believing in your purpose that God has given you and helping you to just like dream bigger and go for those dreams. It’s amazing. Can’t recommend it enough. Again, that’s Believe Bigger by Marshawn Evans Daniels. Book number three is Own Your Every Day by Jordan Lee Dooley. It’s really encouraging in figuring out what you wanna do, how to take those first steps of faith, and just trusting that you are going in the right direction, even if you don’t really know what the heck you’re doing.
(05:08):
So it’s really encouraging. Again, a pretty fast read that’s Own Your Every Day by Jordan Lee Dooley. Book number four is Redefine Wealth For Yourself by Patrice Washington. I love this book because not only does it talk about, you know, your money mindset, which as teachers we really usually need to have help with, but it talks about wealth in your life in all areas. So I really liked her take on how she explained wealth and broke it down. Again, that’s Redefined Wealth for Yourself by Patrice Washington. And then book number five is actually the number one you should be reading, and that is your Bible. You guys, God has these stories in the Bible for us for a reason. They’re meant to encourage us, to guide us, to show us where we’re meant to go. Go. You should be turning to your Bible every single day.
(05:59):
Integrate it into your morning routine. You don’t have to spend hours in the Bible. This takes 10, 15 minutes a day. Then open to a chapter, read a couple sections, bookmark your place and come back to it the next day. I think sometimes we get caught up in, “oh, I have to read like a whole entire chapter in one sitting.” Well, you’re not even gonna be able to understand all that you just read because there’s a lot. So just break it down into chunks and make it more manageable and you’ll find yourself like wanting to go to your Bible more often if you’re not already. All right, so I hope this was fun for you. If you love to read like I do, this is a great place to start when you’re looking to get out of teaching. Again, Teacher Turned … is my book that I wrote for y’all. You can find that a teacherturnedvirtualassistant.com/book. I also highly recommend Believe Bigger by Marshon Evans Daniels. Own Your Everyday by Jordan Lee Dooley. Redefine Wealth for Yourself by Patrice Washington and the Bible. I love y’all and we will see you.
