Episode 336: Balancing Your Business and Family as a Virtual Assistant
In this episode of the Virtual Assistant Mama podcast, I’m sharing how to balance your business and family life as a Virtual Assistant.
One thing that really changed the game for me in my Freelance/Virtual Assistant business is when I released control of it and gave it over to God. When my faith is strong, it seems like everything is easier, from finding my “soulmate clients”, to providing financially for my family.
In today’s episode of Ditch the Classroom, I’m sharing more about my faith journey, how I still have to work hard to release control sometimes, and what type of faith-related content you can expect on the podcast in the future.

(00:07):
Hello everyone. And welcome back to the “Ditch the Classroom” podcast. I’m super grateful that you’re here with me today. I wanted to record this episode because it’s been on my heart for a while now. And it’s just something that I’ve noticed in my business since I started. And I feel like a lot of you will connect with this as well. One of the hardest things about running your own business is releasing control over everything. I’ve always been someone who just likes to be in charge, know exactly what’s coming in my life. And I take that into my business. And so sometimes being a freelancer/virtual assistant, that can be a little more challenging ’cause you don’t always exactly know what’s coming next. Those months that I try to dictate how everything should work, how I’m gonna get new clients, et cetera – those are the months where I don’t see the fruits of my labor because I’m trying to be in charge.
(01:48):
Once I really started releasing my business and putting it more into the hands of God, that’s when I really started to see it grow. He just – He has a way of putting what I like to call my “soulmate clients” right into my hands when I least expect it. He knows exactly who I can serve the best and He knows exactly what I need to be able to provide for my family. I’ve really felt called to speak on this topic for a while now. I know in previous episodes I’ve mentioned my faith in passing here and there, but I’ve really been feeling pulled to make it a more prominent pillar in my business. This is God’s dream that he placed on my heart. And really, I can’t do any of this without Him, without him. Where would I be? This “Ditch the Classroom” podcast, the Teacher Turned Freelancer Academy, my website design business, none of this would exist.
(02:47):
Like I would still be in the classroom if I hadn’t had this calling on my heart from Him. So I really, I just can’t do this without Him. Now. Not every episode will be faith-centered, but some will be and some will have tidbits. So I do wanna let you know, everybody’s included here. Everybody’s welcome here. But faith is something that’s really prominent in my life and something I’ve been feeling more called to, more strongly about. So it is becoming a more prominent pillar in my business. So I hope that, you know, whether you believe in Christ or not, you’re welcome here, but this is something I’m gonna share about once in a while. So just so you know, <laugh>.
(03:32):
Also when I’m feeling called to, I’d really like to take the time to pray for those of you listening. Now, I’m not a pastor, I’ve never prayed in public. I didn’t even want to in my Bible study, but God’s been telling me to rip the bandaid. So I’ve just gotta rip it. And in fact, I’d like to take a moment to pray over y’all right now. Father, I pray that you bless the women listening to this show. I pray that you guide them to follow the calling on their heart and help them take the next right step to lead them towards their life’s mission outside of the classroom. God, I pray that You give me the guidance to teach these women the skills, strategies, and tools that will serve them the best in their “Ditch the Classroom” journey. I release my business to You fully and I ask that You use me to serve these women as much as I can. In Jesus’s name, Amen. All right guys, thank you so much for tuning in today and I will see you next week.
