(00:07):
Hey, hey, y’all. Welcome back to another episode of the Ditch the Classroom podcast. And another Quick Tip Thursday where I answer y’all’s questions. This question that was submitted to me is one that I get very, very often from people who are new to the virtual assistant world. And the question is, how much do virtual assistants get paid? I know y’all wanna know this because you need to see if this is something that’s going to allow you to quit teaching for good. And so I’m gonna give you all the answers here.
(01:50):
So starting out, I recommend that virtual assistants start out at no less than $25 an hour. If you join some of the Facebook groups for virtual assistance, you may see some people charging less one that might be because they’re living in a different country where the rates are a little bit different. And so that’s why they’re able to charge a little less. But too, some people just, just do this and it’s bad practice.
(02:20):
And it reflects poorly on all the other virtual assistants who are trying to make this their stable income. So I always, always recommend, even if you have zero experience, do not start any less than $25 an hour. And then any time that you gain a bit more experience, you can raise those prices. So if you take a course, raise your prices. If you learn a new skill from watching a YouTube tutorial, raise your prices. If you land a client and you’re offering that service for that client for a month, and then you land another client offering that same service, raise your prices for that second client. If you’ve been working with one client for three months, offering the same service, and you’ve learned so much more about it, it’s time to raise your rates with that client. I know that’s a little confusing. Hopefully y’all followed that.
(03:17):
And then once you niche in a one specific service that you love and you become the go-to expert for that service, that’s when you can raise your prices exponentially. So once you get to this point, you can charge up to, and I’ve even seen beyond $100 an hour. I know. Mind-blown. You guys I’m serious. I was a kindergarten teacher. I taught kids how to stand in line, use a glue stick. I’ve now gone into, I think y’all know it, I do website design is my area of expertise as a virtual assistant. And I charge over $100 an hour. Now I don’t actually charge hourly and y’all can check out the episode about charging hourly versus packages that I did a couple weeks ago. But when you break down my package price, my hourly rate is about a hundred dollars an hour, so totally possible.
(04:11):
And it didn’t take that long to get there. You guys, you get to decide when you raise your prices, you just have to have the confidence to do so. And that’s kind of a whole other, whole other episode is having the confidence to raise your prices. But if you want help with figuring out your prices as a virtual assistant, figuring out what your package prices or hourly prices should be, then I’m gonna invite you to join the Teacher Turned Freelancer Academy in there. You’re gonna get all the tools, systems, accountability, support that you need to really grow your virtual assistant business exponentially so you can replace and or exceed your teaching income. And in one of the units in TTFA, I break down for you exactly how to figure out what your package is, what your service prices should be. So it’s a no brainer.
(05:06):
I help you figure it out. It’ll take you like 10 minutes or less. You also get access to our private student community, where I’m always in there giving you even more support. So you get that. When you’re part of the Teacher Turned Freelancer Academy. Go join, that’s teacherturnedfreelancer.com. You can see everything that’s included and I can’t wait to see all in there. Now, if you have a Quick Tip Thursday question that you wanna get answered, come and drop that in our free Facebook group, facebook.com/groups/ditchtheclassroom. You can scroll and find the Quick Tip Thursday episode, drop your questions there. You guys, if we run out of questions for me to answer, we won’t have this bonus episode anymore.
