(00:07):
Hey, sister friend, welcome back to another episode of Quick Tip Thursday here on the Ditch the Classroom podcast. Today’s question that I’m answering is, can I really quit teaching and replace my income in just six months? Right now, the school year is gonna be over in just about six months from now. So I know there’s a lot of teachers, I personally know, friends of mine that really don’t wanna go back to the classroom at the beginning of next school year, but they also don’t wanna have to go back and get another degree. So in today’s episode, I’m gonna be sharing my roadmap to help you become a virtual assistant and replace your teaching income in just six months. I’m gonna break it down for you exactly what you need to do each month so that you can quit teaching for good.
(02:03):
Month number one in your virtual assistant business, you are going to start building your skills. You’re gonna pick a niche, so you’re gonna decide what service you wanna offer, whether that’s social media management, administrative services, website design, copywriting, blogging, any of those things. You’re going to pick which one you wanna do, and you’re gonna start working on building your skills in that area so you can build those skills by doing projects for yourself, doing projects in exchange for testimonial work, reaching out to people you know who might need that service, all of those things. Also, in month one, you’re gonna work on setting up your business foundations. So you’re gonna get your contract ready, you’re gonna get your calendar scheduler set up, you’re going to create a document to start tracking your taxes and your income. All of those business foundations should be in place from the beginning. That way you’re not scrambling to get them together once you actually start looking for clients. So month one, you’re gonna build your skills, pick a niche of what service you wanna offer, and set up your business foundations.
(03:10):
Once you’ve got that in place, month two, you’re ready to start looking for clients. You should be networking to find clients anywhere from 30 minutes a day to an hour a day. This is the main thing you’re gonna be doing in your business at the beginning. Networking, building relationships with people, asking them if they need that service or if they know anyone that does. Doing it in a respectful way. You don’t wanna just show up in somebody’s inbox like, “Hey, wanna hire me?” No, you wanna build a relationship with them, Take your time, get to know them, show that you care about their business. And then like a couple weeks into building that relationship with them, ask them, “Hey, do you know of anybody that needs social media management help? Or would you need some social media management services?” For example. This is a great way to not be too in-your-face and just, you know, put into their mind like, “Hey, I offer this service. I’d love to help you.” And even if you don’t need these services, maybe you know someone who does. So start building those relationships in month two, and your goal is to land your first client in month two of your business.
(04:27):
Okay, month three, you’re going to keep working on that same process of networking, building relationships with people, and if you’re doing it consistently enough, you should be able to land your second and your third client. And then month four, you’re gonna be doing a lot of client work at this point. So you might not have as much time to network, but you should still be networking some. And so month four, you’ll be doing a lot of client work and then still networking. Hopefully land your fourth client month five might be a good time to take a break. Just focus on your client work and then also take a look at your business and see, do I need to raise my prices? Do I wanna pivot my services? Any of that. So maybe you’re not spending as much time looking for new positions month five, maybe you’re just kind of adjusting your business to make sure it’s the way you want it, raising your prices, all of that. But then month six, you can jump back in and land another client through networking, applying to jobs and all of that.
(05:29):
So by month six, if you followed these steps and landed your first client in month two, second and third client in month three, fourth client in month four, fifth client in month six, if you have five clients that you’re charging a thousand dollars a package each, that’s 5,000 a month you’re already making just in six months of becoming a virtual assistant. So this is just kind of to give you a glimpse of what is possible for you. Even if you only charge 500 a month for a package for each client, if you get five clients, that’s $2,500 a month. I know some people that’s already replacing their teaching income, some people it’s not. Maybe you’re in a state where you make a little more. So that’s when you wanna think about raising your prices or offering services where you can charge a little bit more.
(06:16):
Things like that. All right. So I just wanted to kind of show you exactly how you would kind of work through the first six months of becoming a virtual assistant to allow you to replace your income.
