Episode 147: Create Your Six Month Plan to Replace Your Income So You Can Quit Teaching

Welcome to the first episode of 2023 you guys! I am so excited for a new year. New year means new goals, and I thought it would be a great time to share this episode with you guys, helping you set your goals so that you can quit teaching in this new year. So in this episode, I’m gonna be sharing three steps for how you can backwards design your goals so you can hit them and start living the life that you wanna live.

So let’s just jump right in. Step number one is to determine what your income goal is. What amount of money do you need to make in order to be able to quit teaching? Maybe you need to fully replace your income. Maybe you just need to get like 75% of the way there to be comfortable. Whatever you need to do, go ahead and write that down. And then step number two, you’re going to divide that number you just wrote down, that annual income goal number, you’re gonna divide it by 12. Why? To get your monthly goal. So you need to figure out what amount of money you need to make per month to hit your annual goal. Then step number three is to figure out how many clients you would need to hit that monthly goal.

Now, if you’re charging too low and you figure out that you would need like 15 clients a month to hit that goal, then you need to raise your prices. You either need to raise your hourly prices or (bonus tip) It’s way easier to offer packages instead of hourly rates. Hourly rates are super time specific, and honestly, there’s only so much time that you have to work. But if you switch to packages, it’s not time specific. You don’t have to track your time, which hallelujah, because I hated tracking my time back when I used to. And you can offer more premium services without having to keep track of everything, like all the nitty gritty details. You just have to have a clear layout of this is what I offer in this package. This is the price. You don’t have to ever worry about tracking your time again, and you can start to charge more premium prices for premium packages. When you switch to packages, you’re no longer charging time for money. You’re charging money for how you can impact somebody’s business.

Okay, so let me recap the that again. Step number one, you’re going to write down what your annual income goal is. Step number two is to divide it number by 12 to get your monthly goal. And then step number three is to figure out how many clients you would need to hit that monthly goal. Now, I wanna share with you guys something kind of fun. I love to share with you my word for the year. I did this last year and I wanna do it again for 2023. So this year, my word is impact. I am just so excited to keep impacting you guys and serving you impacting more women who need to hear this message. And we’ve got my book coming out in just over a month.
