Welcome, welcome back to another episode of Quick Tip Thursday on the Ditch the Classroom podcast. Before we jump into today’s question, I wanna invite you to our free workshop where you’re gonna learn the foundational steps you need to become a virtual assistant. You’re gonna figure out what services you want to offer that light you up every day. You’re going to figure out where to find paying clients that will help you replace your teaching income faster. And then also you’re gonna learn the three mistakes that new virtual assistants make and how you can avoid them. So go check that out at ariannavernier.com/virtual-assistant-workshop. That’s A-R-I-A-N-N-A V-E-R-N-I-E-R/virtual-assistant-workshop, or check up link in the show notes. All right. So one of the biggest concerns that I see from the teachers and moms that are joining our free Facebook community is that they’re worried about having a stable income if they quit teaching, to become a virtual assistant. Totally respect to that. I know you need to be able to provide for your family. You still have goals you wanna hit, and you wanna know that you’re not going to lose your income tomorrow. So my biggest tip for you when you are thinking about becoming a virtual assistant, and you’re trying to figure out what services you want to offer is to pick a service that can be packaged as a retainer service. A retainer service means that you’ll have the same clients month to month. One-off services are like website design or logo design. You’re only gonna do that once for a client. Maybe you would do like website maintenance for a client every month, but generally website design, logo design, things like that. That’s a one-off service. Retainer services are things like social media management, Pinterest management podcast, editing, email marketing, administrative services, bookkeeping, writing.
(03:03):
Those are all things that you would tend to do for a client each month. They’re going to need it every month. So they’re not gonna hire you just for one month. They’re gonna hire you for an ongoing service that you’re gonna provide for them until y’all are ready you to part ways. So that way, when you do this, you have that stable income because you can pretty well rely on the fact that these clients are going to need the service month-to-month. Now, remember your income can actually be more stable as a virtual assistant, because think about it: You could lose your teaching job tomorrow, and then what are you gonna do? You’re out all of your income. But the likelihood of you losing all of your virtual assistant clients at once is very slim. So say you need four clients to replace your teaching income. You got four, maybe at some point you lose one of those four. Well, then you still have the other three. So you’re still making 75% of your income. And then you just have to take some time to go find one new client to replace the client that you lost. So as a virtual assistant, your income can actually be more, more stable because you’re very, very unlikely to lose all of your clients at once. All right.
