Do you wish you could quit teaching and start working from home as a virtual assistant, but you just have no idea where to start? We can be flat out terrifying to start something new, but taking that first step is necessary. You can’t build a successful virtual assistant business without starting somewhere. In today’s episode, I’m gonna walk you through four fundamental truths to help you start before you are ready. So let’s just go ahead and dive in. Number one, God does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called. Let me say that again. God does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called. Yes, you might feel scared to start your virtual assistant business. Yes, you might feel like you wanna take the leap, but you just don’t even know how to start before you’re ready, if you need some encouragement, here it is again. God does not call the qualified.
(02:13):
He qualifies the called. Look at every disciple and story in scripture. None of them who are out there going, “I’m gonna apply for the job, for fishing for men,” or “I think I’m gonna start building an ark”. Instead, God was like, you are called, and because I’m calling you, I will qualify you. I will give you what you need to get the job done. No one in scripture was ever ready. Moses, he was like, heck, no. Jonah even ran away and tried to hide from God. None of them were ready. Okay, so we don’t have to be ready either. God will prepare us. You’ve gotta step up and realize that you will be qualified, but only after you say yes to the call. Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged for the Lord. Your God will be with you wherever you go.” These words are repeated so many times throughout scripture, and it’s just a reminder for you that if you are called then God is with you. You would not be feeling like this in your spirit if you weren’t.
(03:23):
Truth number two is that feeling ready is a deception. Whoever told you that you should feel totally ready before you start something new is a liar, but let’s be honest, did anyone ever actually tell you that? Or did you just create that illusion in your heart and mind that there’s another level of readiness that will make everything easier if you reach it, there is no ready in starting taking action and becoming a virtual assistant. Did you feel ready to do all of the big, amazing and great things you’ve done in your life? I know when I gave birth to my kids, I was not ready for that, but I did it anyway.
(03:59):
I didn’t have a choice, okay? I wasn’t ready for my kids. I wasn’t ready for my virtual assistant business. I wasn’t ready for my podcast, none of it. But the thing that was true was that I was called to all of those, okay? So I took that step of faith even before I was ready. The deception of “ready” keeps you from moving forward. It tells you to wait longer to learn more, to think about it harder. I’m not saying we shouldn’t have discernment and and pray about different things, but this is for those of you that have felt God’s prompting and conviction that you should be starting, but you’re scared to start before you’re ready. Okay? We do need to pray about things, but if God’s already been telling you to go, maybe he’s been tapping you with a feather. Maybe you’re waiting for the piano to drop on your head. I’d rather have the feather and go, then it’s less painful. Okay? Feeling sassy today, that’s the truth.
(04:58):
All right. Truth number three is that your confidence is gonna be built through discomfort. If you’re feeling self-conscious or worried or have a sense of discomfort about starting your virtual assistant business, the only way to overcome that is to push through it. Only way you’re gonna find confidence is to get really uncomfortable and to prove to yourself that you can do it again and again. Confidence is built through discomfort. To become better at something, you have to be willing to push through it for the first time. When starting your virtual assistant business, you have to first decide what step one is. I recommend picking what service you wanna offer as step number one. How do you do that? Well, the service that sounds fun to you, you aren’t gonna feel confident, and it’s not gonna be your best to work at first, but that’s okay by client.
(05:48):
Number three, you’re gonna be 10 times better, and by client number 10, you’re gonna be a superstar. You can continue to grow by going through different levels of discomfort. Discomfort never fully goes away. There’s always a new level to your calling. But if you’re willing to be uncomfortable, God can use you to glorify him through the giftings that he has given you, okay? Right. Truth number four is that action is the only possible positive outcome. Waiting is not gonna help you get to an outcome that you want. Neither is overthinking or delaying it. Action is the only thing that’s going to propel you forward, even messy, awkward, or unprofessional action. If you feel God prompting you to become a virtual assistant, you’re gonna feel unqualified and unsure, but that’s why you have to say “yes” and push through your yes is going to allow you to get to the beautiful fruit that is on the other side of that.
(06:47):
Yes, you guys, ultimately, we all feel scared or uncomfortable when starting something new, and that’s okay. We can’t just let it stop us. Instead, we have to move forward in the truth that God calls us and will qualify us regardless of if we feel ready. We just have to commit to taking uncomfortable action and trusting that we’ll get more confident as we grow and acknowledge that God is equipping us as we go. Okay, so I hope that this episode was encouraging for you. Really quick, let me recap those truths for you. Number one is that God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called. Truth number two is that feeling ready is a deception. Truth number three is that confidence is built through discomfort. And truth number four is that action is the only possible positive outcome.
