(00:07):
Hey, hey, y’all! In today’s episode of the Ditch the Classroom podcast, we’re going to be continuing our freelance/virtual assistance services series, such a mouthful, which is giving you an review of popular services that you can offer and what those services entail.
(01:07):
Now we’ve already done quite a few episodes in this series. So if you’ve missed them, you can go back and check ’em out. In episode 47, I covered what a Pinterest manager does for their clients. Episode 49 we’re talking in-depth about what an email marketer does. Episode 51 is podcast management. Episode 53, social media management. And Episode 55 is what an online business manager does. Okay. So in today’s episode, I’m gonna be teaching you all about what copywriters do for the, their clients. So you might hear the term copywriter and think of like getting a copyright in a business, but that’s not what it means in the freelance and virtual assistant world. A copywriter is someone who writes any of the written content in a business. So social media captions, blogs, emails, any written content you see on a website, and even more than that. As a copywriter, you can specialize in one area or multiple.
(02:17):
So if you love writing blog posts, you can just offer blog post writing services. If you are really good at creating website copy, you can do that. If you’re really, really loving social media, you can just do social media captions. So it’s really cool that you can specialize in one area or multiple if you love a few. Now as a copywriter, it’s your job to dig into your client’s ideal clients. You really need to have a clear understanding of what those ideal clients pain points are, what specific language are they using – ’cause you wanna make sure you are using the language they would use in the written content you’re writing. So it’s really connecting with the person reading it. Now, if you think about it, different ideal clients use different words. For example, if your client’s ideal client is a mom, they’re probably going to use different language than just a CEO in a big business.
(03:26):
So you really want to explore what your ideal client or what your client’s ideal clients, what language they’re using. You also wanna do research to make sure that you sound like your client. You want to research, how do they speak? And then what terms do they use or not use? That way when you’re writing for them, it doesn’t sound like somebody else entirely is writing it. You need to make sure you’re speaking in the way that they would. Now, if you love writing and researching, then becoming a copywriter might be a really great fit for you. This is a great service to offer because every single business needs a copywriter. So whether we’ve got a crazy pandemic going on in the world or not, businesses need this role filled. So I highly recommend doing this, if again, if you love, love, love writing. All right y’all, I hope this was helpful. I know it was kind of short, but we’re just, I do have a few episodes where I’ve interviewed copywriters on the show. So you can go check those out if you are interested in learning even more. But yeah, I hope this was helpful and we will see you next week.
