Episode 336: Balancing Your Business and Family as a Virtual Assistant
In this episode of the Virtual Assistant Mama podcast, I’m sharing how to balance your business and family life as a Virtual Assistant.
Do you need extra income while you are still teaching? Do you need a little bit more money to pay bills, pay off debt, take those family vacations, whatever it is, I know so many teachers who you know, work full-time teaching, but still don’t have enough money to do the things that they need or want to do.
My recommendation is to start a virtual assistant side hustle. Becoming a virtual assistant is an amazing side hustle because it’s so flexible. You get to pick when you work, when you don’t, how many clients you take on, and more. It can also work completely around your teaching job.
A Virtual Assistant is someone who provides services remotely to different businesses. The type of service that you offer as a Virtual Assistant depends on what sounds fun to you. There are literally over a hundred different services you can offer as a Virtual Assistant, but some examples are writing, social media management, Pinterest management, website design, administrative services, podcast management. Those are just some of the top popular ones, but there are literally so many. If it’s a service you can offer, you can probably offer it as a Virtual Assistant.
I already mentioned that Virtual Assistants have a flexible schedule, which is amazing, especially as a teacher, as a mom, as just a busy woman, you can work as much or as little as you want.
I typically recommend to try to at least aim for about five hours a week so you can get it going, but you could work it in even less if you wanted to. You also get to set your own prices, which means you get to decide when you get a raise.
Becoming a Virtual Assistant is so possible, and you can build this as your side hustle until it gets to the point where you are comfortable enough to quit teaching. You don’t have to just quit right off the bat and go from your teaching income to nothing. You can build your virtual assistant business to the point where you’re very comfortable leaving that teaching income.
In case it wasn’t already clear, becoming a Virtual Assistant is the number one way I recommend to help you quit teaching when you are ready. I hope that this will help you understand what possibilities there are with becoming a Virtual Assistant. You don’t have to work it full-time. It’s totally possible to do in the cracks of your day.
